Lose Belly Fat By Controlling The Neuropeptide Y

You may not realize that the fat in your stomach can make your fatter. This was found by the Canadian research team.

They say that the belly fat tissue releases a hormone which is known as Neuropeptide Y (NPY). It stimulates the the development of cells that can be transformed into fat.

You may already know that your hunger is caused by the high amount of hormone in the brain.

In a lab test on rats, they want to find out the relationship between abdominal fat and NPY.

We have always assumed that when we have too much of NPY, we tend to eat more food. However, the result showed that the NPY in the stomach tissues multiplied the population of fat cells by triggering the replication of existing cells which later converted into fat cells.

Now they are studying if there is any possibility of the release of the NPY in the abdomen to the blood stream. Probably in future, scientists can find a way to switch off this hormone to overcome obesity and lose belly fat.

How To Lose Belly Fat Without Sit Ups

What can you do to get rid of belly fat? Here 3 simple tips to flatten your tummy. None of them involves sit ups.

  1. It does matter what you eat. Wake Forest University researchers said that trans fat which is associated with the increasing risk of heart problems,  may increase belly fat.
  2. Studies indicate that if you sleep less than 4 hours, then you are likely to gain weight by 70% compared to those who sleep between 7 and 9 hours. Lack of sleep reduces leptin which helps to curb appetite by sending the “your stomach is full” signal to your brain. Not enough sleep can limits the output of insulin which helps to control the level of blood sugar. Therefore, sleep deprivation can affect your ability to burn excess fat.
  3. Stress is said to cause the build up of fat at your waistline. When under stress, your body produce a group of hormones such as adrenaline, cortisol, and insulin. When the level of cortisol is high, you tend to eat a lot and usually the fat will be stored in the abdominal area.

Belly Fat May Affect Liver Function

A study was conducted recently on whether belly fat has anything to do with type 2 diabetes risk. According to the study at University of Southern California (USC) the release of lipids from abdominal fat elevates overnight. The lipids is drained directly to the liver.

People with belly fat tend to experience the higher risk of developing diabetes and other chronic illnesses. However, no one can explain this association.

The increased level of lipids can trigger insulin resistance which is a strong risk factor for type 2 diabetes. The liver is responsible for glucose and insulin metabolism. As the lipid drains to the liver, it builds up triglyceride which affect the metabolism of glucose and insulin. That is how belly fat is connected to type 2 diabetes.
